Cybersecurity will be the main item on the agenda on the second day of the informal meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council. The justice ministers of the EU member states will meet in Amsterdam to discuss the European approach to cybercrime.

States’ powers to deal with cybercrime

As the previous holder of the EU Presidency, Luxembourg initiated a discussion in the autumn of 2016 regarding the issue of jurisdiction in cyberspace. Who has the authority to enforce the law in the digital world? As the current holder of the Presidency, the Netherlands is putting this issue back on the agenda. One of the proposed measures aimed at strenghtening the fight against cybercrime is to improve public-private cooperation.
